In early-mid 2018, Hypixel had an excellent game titled "Battle Royale". It was a mixture of vanilla Minecraft and the popular trends of FPS Battle Royale Games such as Fortnite or PUBG. It was the largest Battle Royale minigame in Minecraft, and was a great experience.

Sadly, that changed with the addition of guns to the game, which had completely changed the game only a month into release. It was a mixed issue, with many advocates and critics of the addition. In the end, it was put into maintenance two months later, where the staff team planned to make changes to the game to create a fun, balanced play style. Sadly, that was never accomplished.

In early September 2018, four and a half months after going into maintenance, Battle Royale was halted in development and scrapped from the Prototype lobby. Fans on both sides of the gun argument were saddened by the loss of an amazing game, and it's been gone ever since.

However, I feel that now[at least, once things settle down] is a great time to reintroduce the game. With the huge recent expansion of the server easy-to-learn Battle Royale game design, I feel it could reach the likes of Skywars, Bedwars, or even Skyblock if reintroduced. And I'm not saying extra resources should be devoted to Battle Royale; it was fine as it was, and all that's needed is a small group to make necessary patches and small changes. It's an amazing gamemode, and it saddens me to see how many players have never gotten a chance to experience it.

I think Battle Royale, even as it was, would be amazing if reintroduced to the game. While it does have large lobbies, they're similarly sized to Skyblock mega hubs, which have comparable player counts, map sizes, and even more custom features. With the experience and traction gained from Skyblock, I feel it's worth giving this long forgotten PTL game a second chance.
