Hyde Park Avenue Redesign

Hyde Park Avenue Redesign
The Issue
Hyde Park Avenue, or at least the JP segment of Hyde Park Avenue that runs from Neponset Avenue to the Arborway/Forest Hills, is incredibly problematic.
Hyde Park Avenue faces a serious congestion issue that leads to delays with the 32 bus, which Hyde Park and Roslindale residents depend on for transit along Hyde Park Avenue and Forest Hills. But it's not just a matter of rebuilding trust in public transportation. Reckless driving and equally reckless road design results in a Hyde Park Ave that is not only dangerous to the most vulnerable- pedestrians and cyclists- but has already resulted in the unnecessary deaths of community members who just want to commute safely. The latest tragedy was in 2024, when Glenn Ingram was struck and killed on Hyde Park Avenue, but apparently it's not enough for the city to take action.
The city itself has acknowledged that such poor road design with wide, hostile car lanes, especially around areas like Forest Hills, a major area for foot-traffic, is incredibly dangerous. And they've already reached out to the community, but have only ended up ignoring our demands and our calls for a better Hyde Park Avenue. It's been 7 years with no end in sight for the city's delays, and we cannot wait any more. They know it. We know it. Make your voice heard.
Help make Hyde Park Avenue safer for the people.
Signing this petition will show your support for Alternative 2, which would shrink down the Arborway-Ukraine Way segment of Hyde Park Avenue to three lanes, and the implementation of protected bus and bike lanes from Ukraine Way to Neponset Ave. A diagram of Alternative 2 and a potential concept for Hyde Park Avenue with the bike and bus lanes is shown below.
