On November 17, less than 24 hours before the deadline for parents to enroll their children in Huntsville Virtual Academy or commit to traditional school attendance, Huntsville City Schools issued new guidelines for the coming semester's HVA students. While the deadline was extended by two days to November 20, there is a great deal of information in this new policy that lacks clarity and needs to be addressed before parents can make informed decisions about their children's academic future. 

Therefore, we, the undersigned, are petitioning Huntsville City Schools in Huntsville, AL to extend the deadline for HVA registration to December 1 and provide the following no later than November 23rd:
-Answers to questions submitted in a master document from a local coalition of parents regarding the new policies. These should be presented in the form of written policy clarifications posted to the main page of the HCS website, above the fold, and sent to all HCS families via email. 
-A commitment to public input sessions regarding spring traditional learning plans. 
-A commitment to expanding the available data on the district's COVID Dashboard to include the daily changes in the number of staff and students quarantined and positive cases, both for each school and district-wide, not just the 14-day total.
