We are against the use of the GoGuardian software by the Huntington Beach Union High School District and by extension Marina High School. This software is a blatant violation of the privacy of students and creates a destructive learning environment that makes students feel as if they are constantly being watched (because they are being constantly watched). The company behind this software has shown no concern for the privacy of students as evident in that fact that the GoGuardian software at one point gave teachers the capability to remotely access students webcams. This capability has since been removed but the fact that it was present at all shows how this company doesn't seem to understand the line between keeping students safe and invading their privacy.
