The City of Huntington Beach, CA is considering committing to a 10 year contract, 1.5M price tag with the County of Orange for Animal Control and Shelter Services.

The County Animal Services has been providing poor service, inhumane care of the animals and high kill rates.

There are many alternatives available for consideration rather than using the County services. The City of Huntington Beach should mirror other progressive cities such as Irvine and Mission Viejo and establish its own animal shelter. A shelter within the City would provide residents and the lost and stray animals a better chance of being returned home or finding that forever home.

We want the City Council of Huntington Beach to know that the residents and their pets support the City having it's own shelter.
