Generative AI is getting out of control in schools, and we students deserve an education designed by humans, for humans. This plague on our society has been proven to have a negative impact, not only on the environment, but on those who use it in their everyday lives, sending countless adults and students into psychosis, and in some extreme cases, into taking their own lives and the lives of others. It is reducing the critical thinking skills of students, and only providing surface level information. We are paying teachers to teach well, and students are at school to learn in depth. Generative AI is ruining the quality of both of those things. As students who value the integrity of our education, we want to do everything in our power to stop the use of AI in the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools system to ensure we are getting the education we need and deserve, not only for students, but for our teachers and staff.
