Think about your best friend. How long have you known them? How many awesome times have you shared? How many excruciating emotional, and even physical events have they stayed beside you, helping you through the struggle? How many times have you helped them through such events? If you could do anything in your power to keep them from even the slightest discomfort, I bet you would. 

What about your dog? When you reflect on the phrase “man’s best friend,” It carries some weight. Of all the millions of animals on the planet, we have relationships with many. But one stands out for a reason. We have built a truly significant, and one of a kind relationship with our canine friends. They have become our allies in this beautiful life. They assist people with special needs accomplish a fulfilling life. They live with us, walk with us, hike with us, run with us, eat, sleep, travel with us, and most importantly, they love us. They love us unconditionally, and sometimes undeservedly. Without fail, they are there for us. Encouraging us and, supporting us. They’re empathetic, and studies have even shown dogs to be altruistic. 

All of that said, We’re starting this petition to ensure that our dog pals don’t have to sit outside in freezing cold, winter nights. Many of them don’t have thick coats to protect against the cold. The compassion and love they show us deserves the respect of a warm house. Not the frigid, bitter cold, desert nights we avoid by simply stepping inside. You wouldn’t blink an eye if your best human friend knocked on your door in the middle of a winter night, asking for warmth. Don’t ignore our friends suffering. Let’s make some change.
