Even after three years of its functioning, the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) is running from a transit campus here amid inadequate facilities.

Owing to persistent demand from different quarters, the Central Government had set up the seventh IISER of the country in Berhampur in 2016.

Even the proposed site is nearer to the sea and the authorities concerned have not obtained the necessary clearance from Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ).

The transit campus though functions in a multi-storey building, it lacks fire safety measures, adequate space and drinking water facilities.

PM Modi said that he will lay the foundation stone for the permanent campus of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Berhampur .But nothing happened since then.

The students and research scholars face a lot of problems due to lack of facilities. The students also pay the same fees as the other well established institutes but is suffering from inadequate facilities.

IISER Tirupati , which started functioning in 2015 is shifting to their Permanent Campus from 2019. The construction have not even started for IISER Berhampur which was announced along with IISER Tirupati.

Through this petition I request Ministry of Human Resource and Development , Government of India to take off the construction for the Permanent Campus and be done with it in the next three years as was proposed earlier.
