Derk Wehler started this petition to https://forums.androidcentral.com/general-news-discussion/809221-poll-removable-battery-fixed.html and

There are a significant number of Android users who would like to own a phone with a removable battery and removable storage. Reasons include:

1) The ability to swap in and out extra batteries to avoid having to be tethered to a charger

2) If/when the battery goes bad, it is much easier and cheaper to replace.

3) The ability to have larger-capacity batteries than manufacturers tend to include. Many users would be more than happy with a larger battery over thinness.

4) The ability to reset the phone easily and certainly by removing the battery, not to mention more certain privacy.

5) Similarly, SDCards allow users to load data onto them via desktop without having to send everything through wifi/mobile data, and allow a much larger, if not infinite storage capacity.  While no one seem to make a removable battery anymore, at least some still do SDCard storage, but they are quickly disappearing as well.

Personally, if LG (or whoever) came out with an updated phone with a removable battery option, I would almost certainly buy it for that reason, unless all the other attributes were very bad (i.e. processor, camera, RAM, etc).  I have met many others who share this view.
