At every opportunity Medway council applies for city status making use of the queens special occasions. Medway is a collection of towns with the river Medway running through them and as such would not qualify as a city but rather a series of towns.

Rochester was always known as the City of Rochester Upon Medway until it mysteriously lost its city status due to a clerical error from within Medway council.

We the people would like to see Her Majesty the Queen ignore Medway councils latest attempt at City status and simply reinstate Rochester as a City as it so deserves.

Medway council has wasted tax payers money in the past to pursue this obsession to the extent one year they had all of their letter headed paper printed with City of Medway, along with sponsoring a double decker bus to promote this ludicrous idea which they subsequently failed at achieving and nobody else in Medway supported.

In contrast back in the day there was uproar with the fact Medway council had managed to loose Rochester it's City status and to this day most locals still refer to Rochester as a City.
