Hi everyone, Me again. After our amazing victory in the House of Lords – they voted at the end of January to block the government’s plans and keep measures of child poverty based on families’ incomes – it’s time to change our focus to the House of Commons! The government doesn’t want this amendment to pass. They’d rather stick with their plans to measure child poverty by how well kids do at school and whether their parents have a job or not. I know from experience that while those things are important, money really matters when you’re poor. It’s ridiculous to try to pretend it doesn’t! That’s why I’ve changed the target for this petition to the House of Commons - they’re the ones who now have to decide to stand up for all those families and children who don’t have a voice in the debate. It would help even more if you would email your MP – as their constituent, they have a duty to at least listen to what you have to say.
