Dear all, I’ve just heard that the Government has accepted they need to keep measuring and publishing statistics on child poverty. This is amazing – they’ve been forced into an about turn from where we were last year, when the only indicators the Government was committed to publishing were on GCSE attainment and family worklessness. There’s an article in the Guardian on the u-turn here: http://www.theguardian.com/society/2016/feb/26/uk-government-forced-to-retain-household-income-as-measure-of-child-poverty I’m so proud that we’ve been able to campaign together to help make this happen, it’s brilliant that over 50,000 people felt as strongly as I did about this issue. The Child Poverty Action Group who I worked with to set up this petition will be carrying on the fight to make sure kids like mine who’ve experience poverty aren’t ignored or forgotten. Thank you again for signing and sharing and to all of you who emailed the House of Lords or your MP to really hammer the point home. We did it! Rebecca
