Stop pandemics! Go Vegan!
The Issue
No more pandemics!
We are dying!
Animals are dying!
The planet is dying!
Stop climate change!
GO VEGAN!
A vegan lifestyle helps preventing pandemics, save animals, the planet, our health!
Everywhere, on TV, on radio, we hear only about masks, social distancing, reducing contacts, ... how to slow down the spread of the virus.
It's important to protect each other of course: but we never hear about the origins of the virus and how to prevent other pandemics by going Vegan!
It's why we ask the government to make a transition to a vegan lifestyle.
No more bailout for animal agriculture!
We need to support the production of vegan food, clothing, ... and also support the farms in their transition to an ethical business..
So many precautions are taken to prevent the contamination (and it's important) but we have to face the real problem!
 PANDEMICS
3 in 4 of the world's new or emerging diseases that infect humans come from animals.
These diseases are called zoonoses.
They are largely transmitted through factory farming and wildlife trading.
The Covid-19 pandemic is the worst for a long time and it's a wake up call!
But we shouldn't be surprised! It's years that scientists have been warning us! And they get prepared for the next pandemic!
Pandemics will be worse, more frequent, they will spread more rapidly and kill more and more people if we don't stop exploiting animals and Earth.
Some examples of killer zoonoses:
- Covid-19: probably from horseshoe bats
The virus’s natural host is probably the horseshoe bat and from there it passed into civets - a wild cat that is farmed in China. Other animals sold at markets including red foxes and the Chinese ferret badger have also been observed with signs of SARS-CoV infection. It is possible that one of these captured or farmed wild species acted as the intermediary host between bats and people.
- EBOLA
The West African Ebola virus epidemic between 2013-2016 caused 11,325 deaths. It is thought that catching and eating wild animals was the cause.
- MERS Coronavirus: from camels
It is most commonly associated with camels, and may be passed to people who work with, farm, or slaughter camels, or consume their meat or milk.
- AIDS: from chimpanzees
HIV - Human Immunodeficiency Virus - developed from a virus in chimpanzees and most likely jumped species after wild chimps were hunted, killed and eaten.
- SWINE FLU: from pigs
The H1N1 strain responsible for the 2009 outbreak had been circulating undetected in the swine population for several years prior to its emergence in humans, causing only subclinical symptoms. Despite the popular name ‘swine flu’ the virus is made up of genetic segments originating from avian, swine and human strains. In this case, the pig had acted as a mixing vessel for the virus to change its genetic form.
- BIRD FLU: from birds
Avian influenza (bird flu) is a highly contagious viral disease affecting the respiratory, digestive and/or nervous systems of many species of birds. It is caused by a Type A influenza virus, which has many subtypes.
 THE PLANET
A Vegan diet cuts greenhouse gas emissions, uses less water and require less land.
A 2014 study at Oxford University found that the carbon footprint of a vegan diet was 60% smaller than that of a meat-based diet.
The global warming is real. Animal farming is a major contributor to climate change. According to the United Nations, at least 14.5% of all greenhouse gas emissions can be linked to animal agriculture - which is more than that associated with all of the motorised transport on Earth.
 HEALTH
A varied Vegan diet has no cholesterol, is plenty of fibers, healthy carbs, good fats and proteins, and full of a wide range of health-protecting antioxidants and essential nutrients.
Benefits:
- reduce the risk of cancer
- help prevent type 2 diabetes
- lower your blood pressure and unhealthy cholesterol
- lower your risk of heart disease
- make it easier to achieve a healthy weight.
 THE ANIMALS
More than 70 billion land animals are slaughtered every year across the world - 1 billion in the UK alone! Most know only the misery of factory farming where the scale of cruelty is overwhelming.
The silent victims suffer from birth to death, they are seen as machines that generates meat, milk and eggs!
Animals are abused, tortured and killed for their flesh and secretions!
- Do you know about the dairy industry?
The cow has a baby every year, she carries her baby 9 months like female humans do, most of the time she is forcibly impregnated. After 4-5 years of misery, her body is tired and doesn't give enough milk, so she is sent to the slaughterhouse.
If the baby is a male, he is a "waste" for the dairy industry, so he is either killed shortly after birth, or sent to the slaughterhouse for veal. If the baby is a female, she will follow the fate of her mother.
-Do you know about the egg industry?
Free range or cage farming system are the same when it comes to pain and suffering. The hens suffer tremendously during their short lives.
Free range or factory farmed, the male chicks are of no use for egg or meat production, most of the time they are killed immediately after hatching: ground up alive or gassed to death.
Join us to build a better tomorrow, healthy, respectful and ethical.
