Host the 2031 NCAA Division I Men's Final Four at Mercedes-Benz Stadium

The Issue

The COVID-19 pandemic led to the unfortunate cancellation of the 2020 NCAA Division I men's Final Four that was supposed to take place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. This left a void for sports fans and negatively impacted local businesses that would have benefited from the influx of visitors. State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, already hosted the 2024 Final Four. The venues for the Final Fours from 2025 to 2030 have already been announced, leaving Atlanta without another opportunity until at least 2031 (Source: NCAA):

  • The Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, will host the 2025 Final Four.
  • Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, will host both the 2026 and 2029 Final Fours.
  • Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, will host the 2027 Final Four.
  • Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada, will host the 2028 Final Four.
  • AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, will host the 2030 Final Four.

Atlanta last hosted the Final Four in 2013, but the 2020 event would've been the first to be held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium if not for the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, we believe it is right to give Mercedes-Benz Stadium the chance to host the NCAA Final Four for the first time.

Hosting such an event has significant economic benefits. According to Front Office Sports, hosting an NCAA Final Four can generate up to $150 million in economic impact for a city (source: Front Office Sports). Moreover, it provides an opportunity for local businesses and vendors affected by the cancellation of the 2020 event due to COVID-19.

We urge you - the fans, residents of Atlanta, and all those who recognize the significance of this game for both college basketball and our community - to support us in bringing the 2031 NCAA Final Four to Atlanta. Please sign this petition to ensure that Mercedes-Benz Stadium has the opportunity to host the Final Four for the first time!
