Hospices provide such important care for many people who are terminally ill. However they also provide respite & other essential care for other people in dire need. They are an essential part of the NHS and, as such should be funded from general taxation. It is most objectional that they can only continue their essential work by voluntary fund raising. This is a dark ages approach to an most important service.

Recently 2 people whom I know have been terminally ill and had end of life care supplied by hospices. The first was a very dear friend from Rotherham who spent his last days in the local hospice & was superbly cared for.  The second was a friend of my daughter's  who spent the last week of her life being superbly cared for at the Prospect Hospice, Swindon. In both cases the care provided was second to none. I am sure my experiences can be replicated  a million times. This is why I am so passionate about hospices being funded from general taxation. Therefore I am looking for 100,000 supporters for my petition  to be considered by Parliament & for Wes Streeting to justify why he is not prepared to fund hospices throughout the UK.
