A Community Petition Supporting the Creation of the HOPE Community Center

To the Honorable Mayor, Members of the Moultrie City Council, and City Administration:

We, the undersigned citizens, residents, business owners, churches, organizations, and supporters of the City of Moultrie, respectfully request that the City of Moultrie partner with HOPE Ministry of South Georgia by donating, leasing at a nominal cost, or otherwise making available a suitable vacant city-owned building to establish the HOPE Community Center.

The HOPE Community Center is envisioned as a place where people experiencing homelessness, poverty, addiction, and other life challenges can receive practical assistance, compassionate care, and opportunities to rebuild their lives. Our goal is to create a safe, welcoming environment that strengthens individuals, families, and our community as a whole.

For years, HOPE Ministry of South Georgia has faithfully served Moultrie through community outreach programs that include regular Street Feeds, Lily’s Blessing Box, Tuesday Homeless Shower Day, food and clothing distribution, hygiene assistance, referrals to recovery programs and community resources, and ongoing support for individuals working to overcome difficult circumstances.

These ministries have been made possible through the generosity of volunteers, churches, businesses, nonprofit partners, and caring citizens. However, the lack of a permanent facility limits the ministry’s ability to expand services and meet the growing needs within our community.

The HOPE Community Center would provide opportunities to expand existing services and develop additional programs, including:

* Emergency shelter during severe weather and community emergencies.
* A community resource center connecting individuals with local services.
* Showers, laundry facilities, clothing, and hygiene assistance.
* Food distribution and community meals.
* Job readiness support, résumé assistance, and computer access.
* Life-skills and financial literacy classes.
* Recovery support groups and mentoring.
* Volunteer opportunities and partnerships with local churches, businesses, nonprofits, and civic organizations.
* Optional Bible studies, prayer, worship services, and spiritual encouragement for those who wish to participate.

The HOPE Community Center will be operated by HOPE Ministry of South Georgia through volunteers, community partnerships, charitable donations, grants as they become available, and revenue generated through a ministry-operated thrift store. The ministry is committed to maintaining appropriate insurance coverage, caring for the property responsibly, complying with applicable laws and regulations, and working cooperatively with the City and the surrounding community.

We believe this partnership would provide lasting benefits by strengthening community collaboration, expanding services for individuals in need, supporting recovery and self-sufficiency, encouraging volunteerism, and making productive use of a city-owned property for the public good.

As a Christian ministry, HOPE Ministry of South Georgia is motivated by the love and compassion of Jesus Christ. At the same time, the HOPE Community Center is intended to be a place where every person is welcomed with dignity, compassion, and respect, regardless of their background, beliefs, or circumstances.

We respectfully ask the City of Moultrie to consider partnering with HOPE Ministry of South Georgia by making a suitable city-owned building available through donation, lease, or another mutually beneficial arrangement so that together we can continue building a stronger, healthier, and more compassionate community.

Thank you for your service to our city and for your thoughtful consideration of this request.

Respectfully submitted,

HOPE Ministry of South Georgia
