On August 23, 2025, my beloved dog, Hope, was tragically killed after being spooked by fireworks launched by SeaWorld San Diego.  She bolted in fear, ran into traffic, and never made it home.  She was only 18 months old.

Hope's death was not just an accident - it was preventable.  Every year, fireworks terrorize countless pets, wildlife, veterans with PTSD, and vulnerable community members.  What's marketed as a "celebration" too often ends in panic, injury, and heartbreak.

We are calling on the San Diego City Council to take urgent action and ban fireworks on Fiesta Island, replacing them with safer, silent alternatives such as laser shows or drone light displays.  Our city can celebrate without sacrificing the lives of animals or the safty of our residents.

Hope's story should never be repeated.  She deserves to be more than a statistic.  By signing this petition, you are standing up for compassion, for safety, and for a San Diego that values life over noise.
