It is with a great deal of sadness that this community hears of Mr. Norman Lentz’s passing.  

Mr. Lentz was a pillar of the community.  He dedicated years to the community of Palmer Rapids and Raglan Township. Mr. Lentz’s career with the township began as a counsellor in 1968.  He remained a  Councillor with the township until 1993.  At this time, Mr. Lentz decided to run for Reeve / Mayor of Raglan Township.  Being the successful candidate  Mr. Lentz remained as Reeve / Mayor from 1993 to 1998 inclusive.

Following the Amalgamation of Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan (BLR), Mr. Lentz once again entered the Mayoral race.  Again, he was voted in.  This time as Mayor of BLR.  Mr. Lentz remained in the position of Mayor for BLR from 2001 - 2014 inclusive.

Mr. Lentz dedicated his time selflessly to serving the community and his heart and soul as both Councillor / Mayor was doing the best, for the good of the community.

Mr. Lentz donated multiple acres to the township.  Because of his kindness and generosity, we now have the new township office, a ball diamond and a recreation centre.   Mr. Lentz was also instrumental in getting both the Senior’s Building and MTO office located in Palmer Rapids. 

To honour Mr. Norman Lentz and what he has done for our township(s) for so many years, I am seeking support to have the Recreation Centre / Arena located in Palmer Rapids be renamed the “Norman Lentz Community Centre”.
