What another successful day. Welcome to those who have joined our initiative since last update, it’s good to have you with us. Growth of supporters is steady and we continue to be so grateful for the overwhelming surge of interest and support.

Big news from today: we have over 1900 signatures and our website airweshare.ca has been published and is live. There is much more to come on the website but please go check it out and get used to looking here and there for the newest on what’s happening. We made the front page of the Langley Times and I was interviewed by news radio 1130. Booked to be live on CFAX Victoria at 11:05 on Aug 30 if you’re available to tune in. We also found evidence of this news story spreading a bit outside of B.C. which is also great. Our petition is obviously to the BC legislature for laws to change in B.C., but this issue is an issue across Canada so I hope our great response gives hope and maybe incentive for other provinces to start their own petitions as well.

Several people have initiated getting in contact with us via theairweshare@mail.com which is what we want for the paper petition. Please include your city of residence when you email as I’m starting to compile lists of where people live for when we get out to gather signatures. I’m also looking for people who are willing to be local contacts within their communities to help get those signatures (not cold call canvassing but just helping me out) so let me know if you’d be willing and we can figure out the how/what/when/where later.

We also want to have a means of direct contact with people who are experiencing issues with smoke in their homes now - so please send us an email with a brief synopsis of your situation (it can be the same exactly as what you posted on the change.org site). We have some ideas for ways this may help move our campaign forward which we would discuss with you later down the road but we need to be able to reach you!

I think that’s enough again for today. Let’s end with a little comedy. A couple names we decided not to use for our initiative but worthy of mentioning for a smile/laugh: “Smoking is a community-killer (SICK)” or “Smoking hurts us neighbours (SHUN).” My husband also had some fun with mocking responses to negative comments left online below some of the news articles: “to the man concerned that his farts may be the next thing to get banned within his private suite....all I can think is that if your farts could kill someone.....then they probably should be banned....and your new nickname should be paint peeler” or ”to the woman worried about how my baby crying and the smell of diapers are a nuisance to her....at least my baby will grow out of it, unlike you and your shitty [pun intended] habit.”
