Welcome to all of you who joined since last update, and thanks for sticking around to those who’ve been here for the ride. I decided to take an evening ‘off’ yesterday to spend quality time with my husband and Faith, so thanks for being understanding of a two day summary instead.
Media attention has died down a little but still had live radio interview with CFAX 1070 today (got bumped on Thursday due to pipeline topic, I understand why) which went well again and helped promote our ‘ask’ of the government. We also have put the word out that a ‘clear the air’ demonstration is in the works and we will advise when we will host that - best to join our mailing list on airweshare.ca to stay up to date on what’s happening.
Exciting news to share is twofold: we haven’t had smoke in our apartment for 5 days now (it appears that a media blitz featuring your face, voice and baby may be all that’s required to get your smoking neighbour to stop or slow), and I received a response from Premier Horgan’s office today saying they received my email (sent last Friday) outlining my concerns and recommendations and they have spoken with the Housing Minister’s office and asked that they follow up with me directly...so, we will see what next week holds!!!
Finally, many of you have contacted me at theairweshare@mail.com or airweshare@mail.com (not gmail though!) and you have offered your support and help. Here is what you can do, or tell others to do: (1) keep talking about this issue and sharing the petition page with those you know, (2) contact your MLA expressing tour concerns and request, we have uploaded a template on airweshare.ca to make this easier and faster, (3) contact us via the emails above or via our website if you have a direct scenario you are facing right now with second hand smoke in your unit, (4) contact us if you want to sign the paper petition, (5) contact us if your building has tried to go smoke free but lost, (6) contact us if your building has gone smoke free and you either are, or know, smokers that have had to adjust, (7) contact us if you know people in other provinces that are suffering with similar issues. And ask people you know these questions and then encourage them to contact us!!!
