GLETWYN TITLE DEEDS

The Issue

The residents of Gletwyn Suburb in Harare, Zimbabwe purchased land that had been subdivided by Divine Homes (Pvt) Ltd.

Divine Homes owned by Nhamo Tutisani was appointed by Ministry of Local Government to develop and sell compliant residential stands to landowners. As a result Divine Homes was expected to provide the following infrastructure, namely water, reticulation, electrification, culverts and roads) to enable residents to start constructing their homes.

The developer did not undertake this process but commenced the sale of stands after which he got authorization for residents to start constructing their homes. The suburb is very much built with many beautiful properties coming up and residents using own resources to have some basic infrastructure such as roads and electricity, put in place. Efforts to engage the developer to fulfil his obligations have failed not yield any positive result.

Due to non-compliance issue, Gletwyn home owners do not have title deeds.

The area has however been regularized by the Local Authority - City of Harare. Most of the residents have successfully acquired Certificates of Occupation from the Local Authority and some are in the process of doing so.

We, the residents of Gletwyn under the aegis of Gletwyn Residents Association wish to thank the Honourable Minister of National Housing and Social Amenities, Hon. Minister Daniel Garwe and continue to appeal to his good offices for Government to bring Divine Homes to account and also help residents in acquiring Title Deeds.

The residents of Gletwyn, are passionate about making Gletwyn a model surbub, that is not only beautiful and neat but also safe to live in. These homes are not only assets that we greatly value but are also our children's inheritance. Title deeds will give us the much needed peace of mind.
