Appeal not to disturb the Wonderful Eco system in and around Seshachalam Forest and not to develop a Mega city around Tirupati.

The Issue

Decision to develop a Mega city near Kalyani Dam in the Seshachalam forest is a big shock for Ecologists and the Lovers of Environment.

Kalyani Dam is the only source of drinking water for the dwellers of Tirupati, besides personal borewells etc.  We fear that the decision of the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh to develop Megacity around the Kalyani Dam will make the pure water of the Dam totally polluted.  We can't bear to see, that, in future, Kalyani Dam may become another Husain-Sagar-like Storage tank of mere drainage water.

Seshachalam Forest is the Bio-reserve that safeguards precious bio-diversity in the Eastern Ghats.  The Decision of the Government to denotify 5000 acres of forest land and convert it into a mega city will be a big zolt for the bio-diversity in the area.

In addition to that, the City of Tirupati is a brand mark of our India's great heritage and culture.  The city may be developed on those lines by establishing University of Fine Arts etc., but not as a commercial city.  We wish to see the city as a big shelter for various artists and artisans but not as a big commercial hub.  Development on commercial lines will permanently ruin the old and existent ancient traditions and peaceful life of Tirupatians.

Please do not misunderstand that we are against the development of human society.  If we need some wood, we may cut a branch of the tree as it grows again.  But, We should never never cut the root of the Tree.  So, this is an appeal to honourable Chief Minister Sri CBNaidu to make Mega City somewhere else but not by destroying the Seshachalam Forest.

So, We request all the Ecology Lovers and the Lovers of Indian Heritage and Culture to support our petition by contributing your invaluable signatures.
