Honoring Sandy Spears: naming the auditorium after an award winning theater educator

The Issue

Mrs. Sandy Spears was an extremely impactful influence on each and every student who walked into her classroom. She had the rare ability to connect with students of all ages and teach them skills they would use for the rest of their lives. During her 11 years at our school, Mrs. Spears qualified for State OAP twice, once in 2016 and again in 2024. Union Grove had never attended the State OAP competition in school history before she came to our community. She also led countless UIL speech teams to victories, created memorable yearbooks, served as a class sponsor, organized prom multiple times, and helped to further the excellence of Union Grove.

It is important to recognize Mrs. Spears's service to our school and its students. Naming the auditorium after her is a perfect way to honor her career and its life changing effects it had on the students of Union Grove.
