Dear fellow citizens,

For India where cricket enjoys a massive following, Sachin Tendulkar is revered like a demi-god of the sport. From his debut match till his last, Sachin has left an amassing legacy, dedicated solely to the sport and the nation. His passion and dedication for the game, his commitment to excellence, and his humility in all walks of life have made him an icon and a role model for fans and the subsequent cricketing generations, alike.

Just like his on-field innings, Sachin has continued to bat for social causes, especially children welfare, as he progresses through his second innings off-the-field. For his dedication to the sport and the nation, he was bestowed with the highest civilian honor of the country – the Bharat Ratna.

As the Master Blaster turns 50, we propose that 24th April, his birthday, be declared as National Cricket Day. This is the minimal we can do as fellow Indians, to honor the legacy of this great son of the soil. The day shall encompass all his outstanding contributions to the sport of cricket and to the nation. 

Let us come together to dedicate a day to promote the sport and showcase the rich history and cultural significance of cricket. The day shall cater to Sachin Tendulkar’s exemplary life as a cricketer the larger impact he has had on the development of cricket worldwide. This shall also entail the elements of overall progress in the sport and the recent significant happenings.

By declaring 24th April as National Cricket Day in honor of Sachin Tendulkar, generations of cricketers and fans would remember the contributions he made and the solid foundation he built in the game, despite all odds. This will help in reinforcing the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, strong character and excellence that he embodies.

Therefore, we call upon the government and cricket authorities to recognize Sachin Tendulkar's contributions to cricket and declare 24th April as National Cricket Day in his honor. We urge all cricket lovers to support this cause and make it a reality.
