The Summer Greens community are tired of watching our suburb go down the drain.  We have watched Summer Greens turn into a filthy slum. This is a list of our daily struggles 

• Illegal dwellings are being built within days and rooms are being rented out causing much more traffic than necessary and having to sit in traffic longer than needed as there is only one exit out of the area. Should Traffic officials be called out, they do nothing but sit in their cars.
• Building plans are being passed without proper assessments by the officials
• Illegal spazza shops are plenty and are open past 21h00 and this invites crime into the area.  Land Use Inspectors need to work after hours because there is no-one to police it. 
• Unlicensed mechanical & spray painting workshops along with hairdressers and creches operating without consequence 
• Our sewerage system is being put under tremendous strain caused by overcrowding thus causing drain blockage and constant burst pipes. We have had damage to our sewerage pump station causing sewerage to spew into Emerald Park twice within two months.  Our residents living in close proximity are falling ill from the stench.
• We have certain areas that are infested with rats due to the area becoming a dumping ground. This is another health hazard.
• Summer Greens is fast becoming home to vagrants and drug dealing which in turn causes more crime
• Public drinking is also a very big problem and that followed by people defecating in public.  These are the streets that our children walk through.
• Our roads are being damaged by the amount of vehicles including heavy trucks coming into the area to off load at these spazza shops.  We have yet to receive the signage that was requested years ago
• Every week, without fail we have to log countless C3's because of electrical faults, street lights not working and block drains.
• Our parks are neglected and unsafe for our children to play in without being robbed. 
• One of our biggest concerns is also the amount of illegal shacks being put up on the borders of Summer Greens.  We need Law Enforcement to remove them for good as this becomes a safety issue.

The community of Summer Greens is tired of being let down by the City of Cape Town and its officials. Our people are under threat.  Our property value is decreasing. We complain on a weekly basis about the same issues, we log C3 forms, we have endless unfruitful meetings with our councilor, we follow all the correct avenues yet still we are shoved aside to watch our suburb fall further and further through the cracks. Our Community feels that the city is failing us terribly despite us trying to do the right thing.  Mr Mayor, we need your help... If not you, then who?
