I write to respectfully request that you help enforce the maximum penalty allowable by law against Stacy Glover.
The Issue
Stacy Glover beat, tortured, and killed a 12lb Miniature Dachshund.
Mr. Glover was asked by a family member to care for Athena. On August 8,2014 he killed the small dog which was at his mercy. When they returned Mr. Glover told them the dog had run away. Upon reviewing the video surveillance for the day in question, Mr. Glover’s family saw him throw the dog out of the back door. When the dog hid from him, under some patio furniture, he chased and captured the terrified dog. He is then seen calmly sitting in a patio chair smoking a cigarette and repeatedly punching the dog. He then carries the dog into the home by its throat. Later he is seen carrying the lifeless dogs boy out to the woods behind the home.
August 27,2014 he was arrested and charged with four felony counts of Aggravated Cruelty to an Animal and one felony count of Tampering with Evidence. His bail was originally set for $50,000, and was later reduced tot $10,000 and he bonded out of jail. As of August 30, 2014 the charges of four counts as reported by the local media now only shows two counts! The cycle of tolerance and leniency for animal abusers is happening again.
The mental health and law enforcement communities all agree that abuse of animals is a precursor to many more violent acts including murder. According to the American Humane Associations website (http://www.americanhumane.org): ; 71% of pet-owning women entering women’s shelters reported that their batterer had injured, maimed, killed or threatened family pets for revenge or to psychologically control victims. There is a definite correlation between animal abusers and murderers and escalation to abuse of people. Mr. Glover was already arrested in August of 2013 in Manatee County for choking a female companion because they had a disagreement. He also has five records including arrest going back to 2007 in Sarasota, including one for Disorderly Intoxication-Pedestrian.
Please help us bring justice for Athena, her grieving family, and ask Sarasota’s judicial bodies, when found guilty , to give Mr. Glover the maximum allowed by law including intensive physiological counseling. Ask them not to allow leniency for a plea deal, there is clear evidence of the crimes he is charged with.
Athena is now silent but you are not.
Please, lend your voice and support. Sign and Share this petition. Please help us ask Judge Thomas W. Krug, States Attorney Ed Bordsky, Assistant Sates Attorney Dan Yute (assigned to the case) and implore Sarasota County and City Commissioners to send a loud and clear message to our community and other communities that in our civilized society Animal Cruelty will not be tolerated.
