There is much to say about evil people. But there is even more to say about the good people who see evil and choose to do nothing.
Thank you for helping to acknowledge the victims of the North Fox Island pedophile ring. My heart also goes out to survivors of the Detroit Cass Corridor ring, whose horrors evidence suggests overlapped significantly with North Fox Island. And to the victims from Port Huron still struggling today — who knows how many among these communities have tragically taken their own lives, burdened by trauma. I’ve heard of at least one such loss in Charlevoix. I hope this memorial effort can bring some measure of peace to families like theirs.
If you want to understand the depth of this case for yourself, my wife and I have located police documents that lay bare the disturbing, graphic reality of what happened. I caution you to approach with care and consideration:
We’ve also uncovered court documents revealing the mindset of Shelden and Starchild after exposure — their obsession with money and apparent lack of fear of conviction — a stark example of how deeply these victims were failed. They fled, only to continue their abuse elsewhere, undeterred.

This memorial effort isn’t just about remembering the past. It’s about raising public awareness to help prevent these horrors from happening again — because they are still happening. Most importantly, it’s a message to survivors everywhere: you are not forgotten, even when justice fails.
