The Issue

For too long, we have been under the immense stress of consuming lies from the media. In America, these falsehoods have contributed to unprecedented levels of division among us. Instead of reporting the truth, which should be the true value of media, we are repeatedly met with anxiety, depression, and anger—emotions fueled by misinformation.

Furthermore, this fringe ideology, which was once on the periphery, has found its way into the mainstream, amplifying rhetoric that many of us find deeply unsettling and even dangerous. All of this has occurred seemingly without regard to the lasting impact or the expense of figures who have stood as beacons of civil rights, such as Charlie Kirk.

We urgently call for the revival of the media accountability act, a legislative measure designed to hold the media accountable for broadcasting misleading or false information. We propose naming it the Charlie Kirk Act, in recognition of the voices that stand for truth and integrity in media.

Media outlets must be held responsible for the stories they disseminate. The spread of misinformation not only sways public opinion but potentially misguides actions and policies, leaving us vulnerable to manipulation.

Implementing the Charlie Kirk Act would require media entities to verify the accuracy of their news reports or face substantive consequences. This, we believe, would encourage greater transparency and truth in journalism, fostering a more informed and less divided society.

The reinstatement of this Act is a crucial step towards rebuilding trust in our media and ensuring that all citizens have access to factual, unbiased news. Join us in demanding this change. Let's work together toward a future where truth prevails over sensationalism.

Sign this petition to bring back the Smith Mundt Act and contribute to a more honest media landscape.
