NSW Public Schools need Air Purifiers to Reduce Airborne Transmission of COVID-19

The Issue

WE CALL ON THE NSW GOVERNMENT TO INSTALL AIR MONITORING AND AIR FILTRATION IN NSW PUBLIC SCHOOLS INSTEAD OF RELYING ON OPEN WINDOWS TO LIMIT THE TRANSMISSION OF COVID-19

To rely on windows being open at all times to reduce transmission of COVID-19 is an unrealistic and risky strategy. There will be times when it will not be practical or safe to do so such as when it is very cold or hot, when it rains or if there is bushfire smoke in the air.

HEPA filters are an effective and inexpensive solution that are proven to significantly reduce transmission of COVID-19.

SIGN THIS PETITION TO HELP KEEP COVID OUT OF OUR SCHOOLS, KEEP STUDENTS, STAFF AND THE WIDER COMMUNITY SAFE, AND TO MINIMISE SCHOOL DISRUPTION, E.G MORE SCHOOL CLOSURES.

The Victorian State Government have announced they will spend $190 million on a package that includes air purifiers for Government and well as low-fee Catholic and Independent schools. The NSW Government should similarly commit to doing everything possible to keep NSW schools safe.

With the significantly increased transmission of the Delta variant, air monitoring and filtration are a necessary and simple step to make our schools safer for students, teachers and the wider community.
