Protect Bullet from further abuse.
The Issue
Ryan Baker of Medford, MA has been arrested for animal cruelty
According to the Middlesex District Attorney’s press release - The Medford Police Department says a man came to the station on Sunday, March 15, to report animal cruelty committed allegedly by his neighbor, Ryan Baker. The man provided law enforcement with several video images reportedly showing Baker outside Baker’s residence on Cleveland Street abusing a dog in several ways including, dragging the animal by its leash, punching and kicking the pit bull, and throwing the dog into the air.
Law enforcement officers determined the dog, named Bullet, belongs to Baker’s girlfriend and the dog is sometimes at Baker’s home. The woman has agreed to keep Bullet away from the defendant. An Animal Control Officer who examined the dog found a possible sign of abuse, a laceration near one eye. Bullet is approximately one and a half years old and weighs 40-45 pounds.
Despite physical evidence of abuse, Bullet was returned to Baker’s girlfriend. This petition seeks an answer to understand the decision to put the fate of this defenseless animal back into the arms that provided the opportunity for the abuse to occur. Has her compliance of the agreement been proven?
What has the Medford Police Department done to provide for Bullet’s safety and well-being? Has the Animal Control Officer, Patrick Hogan followed up and performed wellness checks? The public has the right to know that Bullet is being safeguarded from further harm.
Please support this petition to tell Judge Paul Yee (617-666-8000), District Attorney Marian Ryan (phone ) and Assistant District Attorney - Prosecutor Ryan Rall (781-897-8592) that the full extent of the Massachusetts Animal Cruelty law should be exacted on Ryan Baker and also to the Medford Police Department, Chief Leo Sacco, (LSacco@medfordpolice.com )and Medford Animal Control Officer Patrick Hogan (phogan@medford.org) that Bullet’s safety is in their hands and needs to be actively protected.
Ryan Baker’s pretrial court hearing will be at the Somerville District Court on April 13th. Please come to support the protection of defenseless animals and show Judge Yee and the ADA Rall that animal abuse is a crime that is worthy of significant consequence under the law.Protect Bullet
