REPEAL BREED-SPECIFIC LEGISLATION IN ONTARIO

REPEAL BREED-SPECIFIC LEGISLATION IN ONTARIO
The Issue
I started this petition because I want to make a change in Ontario with regards to laws banning certain breeds, also known as BSL (breed specific legislation). I have been around dogs my entire life, and the most important factor in my experience is that bad experiences can come from any breed of dog. I was hoping that I could help be a loud voice for those that can't speak for themselves. Pitbulls, Staffordshires, and other illegal breed dogs should not be banned because their owners don't know how to teach them. People, if anything, should be the ones that should be screened before getting a pet. How can you blame a dog for the way it has been raised?
Though a lot of people may disagree, I believe that dogs are very similar to humans. You teach them what's good, what's wrong, and you teach them how to interact with others. People go to school to learn new things, then so should dogs. If someone can't afford to take a dog through school, provide its basic necessities, and don't have time to socialize their dogs, why should they have the privilege of owning one? Other people may say they're filthy and they act on animal instincts. Don't humans become messy once in a while?
The difference this petition can make is to show that all breeds of dogs can live in one community and be happy. An entire breed should not be banned for the fault of the owner or because one dog showed aggressive behaviour. Aggressiveness can be found in any type of dog. This petition will strive to repeal BSL or POSSIBLY negotiate a requirement that all dog owners must attend beginner obedience classes with their dogs. If you can understand how much it hurts to have something you love taken away from you, then please join us in this petition!
