PAVE Okakarara via Coblenz to Otjituuo & Okahandja to Ovitoto & Okakarara/Okahandja to Okondjatu ROADS NOW!
The Issue
Fellow citizens of Namibia, friends of Namibia, and concerned citizens of the world, please support us by way of signing this petition for construction of paved roads in the Okakarara and Omatako Constituencies. With that said, we are petitioning the Okakarara and Omatako electoral constituency councilors to provision paved roads from Okakarara (C47) via to Coblenz and Otjituuo, Okahandja to Ovitoto, and Okahandja/Okakarara to Okondjatu. Okakarara and Omatako are electoral constituencies of the Otjozondjupa Region of Namibia (well known for its Waterberg Plateau landmark, farming, etc.) However, since independence (1991) the Constituencies have received a meager development.
The constituencies attracts thousands of tourists from Europe and around the world. According to the Annual Tourism Statistics Report, Namibia received 1,218,234 (1.2 million) tourists in 2010. At the same time, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the University of Michigan’s Transportation Research Institute, ranked Namibia FIRST in the WORLD, in the number of road deaths.
A large number of tourists and citizens of constituencies are KILLED daily on the roads (UNPAVED ROADS/dirt roads) besides driver's attitudes. At least, during the Apartheid era, these roads (i.e., Okakarara C47/C22/C31 and Okahandja to Ovitoto) were bladed and covered with imported gravel. Today, these gravel roads are formed as part of clearing the vegetation and blading the surface (if any)-period!
The year 2014 is an election year, and as a Councilor he/she must represent the interest of its constituency.
Gravel roads cause potholes, washboards (Krokeishan), loose stones, sand ridges, etc. Which results in the followings: fatalities, major accidents, punctured tires and fuel tanks, windshield damages from two vehicles passing each other, skipping stones causing serious damages to other motorists, dust permeates through door rubber causing, etc. We are tired burying our loved ones weekly, because of unpaved roads.
We are Namibian Agents of Change (NAC), a community of agents of change that petition decision makers and elected officials on issues that significantly impact our lives. Members of NAC introduce topics, discuss and debate the issues while providing solutions, and finally petition decision makers. Our goal is to hold elected officials and decision makers RESPONSIBLE and ACCOUNTABLE for their actions and decisions, which will result in positive changes for all and make Namibia globally competitive.
Thank you in advance for your signing this petition and sharing the word.
