NZ FREE TO AIR TV - bring back educational and ad-free TV while our kids are in lockdown!!

The issue

To The Above Mentioned,

In these most uncertain times, while our country prepares for Alert Level 4, and the ensuing nationwide lockdown, We, the Undersigned (especially those with children), implore you - those in the best position to initiate change - to consider the merits of re-introducing more educational programming to our Free To Air daytime channels (specifically TV2, Three and Prime TV), with the addition of ad-free slots, such as during Easter and Christmas holidays. Advertisements during children's programming is currently aimed at the purchase of toys, which, I'm sure you'll agree, are not relevant, particularly during the next 4 weeks of lockdown. Understandably, sectors continue to need revenue streams, however there is little to be gained or lost on either side, particularly in advertising products that then cannot be purchased.

We, the Undersigned, would appreciate your consideration of this matter, in supporting our tamariki through this precarious time of their lives, and supporting their whanau in being able to provide them with quality learning opportunities while they are unable to attend school. Examples of such programming include preschool shows (such as Sesame Street, The Mo Show, NanoGirl (NZ On Air)), individual documentaries or series (such as Cosmos, Blue Planet, NZ historical documentaries), to name but a few.

Your consideration at your earliest convenience would be greatly appreciated.
