Matty Bowen is a North Queensland legend and deserves to be immortalised with a statue at the new North Queensland stadium.

First off, He is a true North Queenslander, Matty was born here, grew up here, played his entire NRL career here and continues to live and raise his family here. The true King of the North.

He played 270 games for the North Queensland Cowboys (a record he held until just recently in 2018) and scored a staggering 130 tries, a record which still stands and most likely will for a long time to come.

Matty not only inspired most of todays superstars playing at the Cowboys and in the NRL but will continue to do so for the next generation of budding stars coming through,  with his highlights reel to stand the test of time as inspiration for all who love the game of Rugby League.

His contribution is however not just limited to the playing field, as he is still heavily involved in the North Queensland community through his role as Community Engagement Officer for his former club, as well as multiple other roles such as Ambassador and role model to the kids at NRL Cowboys House and Head Coach of the 2019 under 18s Blackhawks, Head Coach of the Centrals Tigers A-Grade side to name a few. All the while still finding time to coach his Son's under 8 footy team.

So as you can see this Legend of North Queensland should forever be immortalised with a statue at the new North Queensland Stadium as our way of saying thanks to all He has given and continues to do for our Great Community.
