Allow sex workers back to work

Allow sex workers back to work

The issue

There is a Queensland road map for easing of COVID-19 restrictions but sex workers are not on it.
Stage 3 due to return on 10 July doesn't include sex workers! Sex workers still don't have a definite return to work date.
Politicians need to hear from you why we need a definite date ASAP. Sex workers are right to go and should at least be back to work by 2nd July or sooner. Sex work is just work and should be treated as such.

Here are some key points why:

1. Sex workers have demonstrated our ability to adapt and use safer working practices in our work places - we are ready to do it again.
2. Other personal contact industries are back to work - it seems discriminatory that sex workers aren't.
3. Politicians don't seem to understand the financial impact on sex workers - that many of us have not been able to access government support packages. It is made worse by not having a return to work date and no way to plan ahead.
4. Our savings are running out and many sex workers are scared about what happens next for us.
COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on sex workers but having no end date makes the stress worse and has an impact on our mental health.
5. At the beginning of the pandemic sex workers started screening clients & took on enhanced cleaning and hygiene practices - we are ready to work again.
6. Sex workers contribute to the local economy (we spend the money we make in our local communities).
