Restore Homestead High School Student Section Videos

Restore Homestead High School Student Section Videos
The Issue
The Basics:
Homestead High School's student section is arguably the best student section in the state of Indiana. A major factor to their unprecedented growth was due to their social media presence. Tasked with leading the student body to get involved and really make the experience one they would remember for the rest of their high school careers, they knocked it out of the park. Starting with 400 followers on Instagram, they quickly set up a media campaign that would see an expansion of 1,800 people within a couple of weeks. On top of that record crowds of 600+ kids attending games each week. To say this is bigger then homestead would be an understatement. Unfortunately, what once started as Homestead vs. Everybody has quickly turned into Homestead vs. Homestead.
What happened:
- False Allegations @ Dwenger (Since been handled)
- Administration enacts a ban on what leaders are allowed to do
- A notable decrease in students active at games
- Lack of support/betrayal from the administration
- Intimidating emails regarding postage of video(s)
- Teacher petition against student-made videos
- Ban on future student-made videos
- Wasted class time on meetings
- Overall lack of care in how it affects anyone but themselves (administration)
What can we do:
We can get as many signatures as possible to provide evidence that these videos make a positive impact on the local community and to continue our positivity.
