Homeless Encampments in Lamoureux Park/Point Maligne Petition —The City’s By-law 2024-55 does NOT work.  

Part 9 of said Bylaw states that: A shelter cannot be erected within 50 meters of a playground, outdoor pool, water park, spray pad, baseball diamond or outfield, sports field, multi-use court, or other recreational facility; within 50 meters of any boat ramp, marina, boat slip, dock, jetty or wharf; within 25 meters of any transit stop; or, within five meters of any pathway, sidewalk, or parking lot including pedestrian access points.

Lamoureux Park is Cornwall’s gem.  It is our prime green space.  These encampments create SUCH a negative impact on all that we envision for our PARK.  Further it intimidates many of us that use the park’s amenities, including the bicycle path for exercise/leisure, Marina 200 and the baseball diamonds/tournaments.

In order to ensure the safety of all citizens, this petition serves to request that City provide a more suitable location for these encampments, i.e. possibly near the Water Treatment Plant area.
