The Issue

I am a veteran residing in the Edwin M. Lee Apartments, a facility managed by Swords to Plowshares, an organization entrusted with the mission of safeguarding and uplifting veterans like myself. However, instead of receiving the care and respect we deserve, we have been subjected to detrimental actions by some of their staff, particularly the apartment managers. This has not only negatively impacted my life but also the lives of many other veterans who call this complex home.

Swords to Plowshares has failed in their duty to protect us from unprofessional and harmful actions by their staff, leading to significant distress and detrimental consequences for residents. As veterans, we have sacrificed much in service to our country, and we should be able to live in peace and dignity, without fear of repercussions from those who are supposed to support us.

Numerous residents have shared stories of disrespect, inadequate responses to complaints, and the general neglect that has been pervasive within the management practices here. It’s crucial that this organization takes full responsibility and implements necessary changes to ensure we are treated fairly.

Concrete actions must be taken, such as a comprehensive review and restructuring of staff management, mandatory sensitivity training for employees to better understand the unique needs of veterans, and establishing a transparent complaint resolution process. By addressing these issues, Swords to Plowshares can realign their operations with their foundational mission.

We call on Swords to Plowshares to hold themselves accountable and undertake these essential reforms. Your signatures on this petition will not only show solidarity with veterans facing these challenges but also urge this organization to act justly and honorably in correcting these ongoing issues. Please sign this petition to ensure that the voices of veterans are heard and respected.
