The Issue

In the United States, social media and video platforms including TikTok, YouTube, X, Meta, and Rumble are allowing a growing network of manosphere influencers to turn misogyny into profit. This content does not exist in a vacuum. It promotes the dehumanization of women, reinforces control-based narratives, and fuels hostility that shows up in real-world behavior.

This is not simply “free speech.” It is algorithmically amplified content designed to maximize engagement, often targeting young and impressionable users. Boys and young men can be pushed toward increasingly extreme content within minutes of joining these platforms. When content is removed from one platform, it often reappears and spreads on others, continuing the same cycle of harm.

We are already seeing the consequences: increased harassment and disrespect toward women in schools and workplaces, normalization of controlling and abusive attitudes in relationships, growing hostility between young men and women, and worsening mental health shaped by isolation, resentment, and radicalization. At the same time, platforms continue to profit from this content while claiming neutrality.

We are calling on federal regulators, lawmakers, and platform leaders to:

1. Investigate whether algorithmic promotion of harmful misogynistic content violates consumer protection laws.

2. Stop proactively recommending misogynistic or extremist content to minors.

3. Require transparency about how harmful content is promoted and who is being targeted.

4. Hold platforms financially and legally accountable when their systems contribute to harm, especially to minors.

5. Enforce moderation policies consistently against harassment, hate, and repeat offenders.

6. Address ban evasion and platform hopping by repeat offenders who move between services to continue spreading harm.

We are calling on the following U.S. regulators and lawmakers to take action:**

* Federal Trade Commission (FTC)

* U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ)

* Federal Communications        Commission (FCC)

* U.S. Senate Committee on      Commerce, Science, and Transportation

* U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee

Social media platforms are no longer passive tools. They actively shape beliefs, attitudes, and behavior. When harmful ideologies are amplified for profit, the damage extends far beyond the screen.

If this level of targeted dehumanization were directed at other groups, it would not be tolerated. It should not be tolerated here either.

Sign this petition to demand a digital environment where profit does not come at the expense of safety, dignity, and basic respect.
