The Issue

We, the students, parents, and concerned members of the St. Francis School, Jasidih community, are raising serious concerns about privacy violations and administrative overreach that are affecting the wellbeing, dignity, and rights of students at this institution.

1. Inappropriate Camera Placement in Washrooms

It has come to our attention that surveillance cameras have been installed in student washrooms at St. Francis School, Jasidih, with placement directed toward urinal areas. This is an unacceptable violation of student privacy and dignity, regardless of the stated intent behind it. Washrooms are private spaces, and no justification — including discipline or safety — warrants surveillance of this nature. We demand the immediate removal of these cameras and a full, transparent explanation from the school administration of how this was approved and how any recorded footage has been stored, accessed, or used.

2. Monitoring of Students' Personal Social Media

We have learned that teachers and staff at St. Francis School, Jasidih are monitoring students' personal social media accounts and issuing punishments for content and activity that occurs entirely outside school premises and outside school hours. A student's life outside of school is not within the school's jurisdiction to police, provided it does not involve illegal activity, harassment of other students, or direct threats to the school community. This practice sets a troubling precedent, discourages students from expressing themselves freely, and oversteps the boundary between school authority and personal life.

3. Disproportionate and Unclear Disciplinary Rules

Alongside the above, the school has introduced a number of rules justified under the banner of "school decorum" that many parents and students feel are excessive, arbitrary, or poorly explained. When these concerns have been raised with the school administration, including directly with the Principal of St. Francis School, Jasidih, they have been consistently dismissed without meaningful dialogue or reconsideration.

Our Requests:

Immediate removal of all cameras positioned in washroom facilities at St. Francis School, Jasidih, along with a formal audit of surveillance policy across the campus.
An end to monitoring and disciplining students for activity conducted on personal social media outside school hours and off school premises.
A transparent, documented review process for school rules, with genuine input from parents and students — not just top-down enforcement.
A formal, open forum where parents and students can raise concerns and receive real answers from the administration.
We are not asking St. Francis School, Jasidih to abandon discipline or structure — we understand the importance of maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment. What we are asking for is that this be done with respect for students' basic privacy, dignity, and rights, and that the administration engage with these concerns instead of dismissing them.

We urge the management, the Principal, and the relevant education authorities overseeing St. Francis School, Jasidih to take immediate action on these matters.

Sign this petition to demand accountability, transparency, and respect for student privacy at St. Francis School, Jasidih.
