The Issue

In recent developments, a "powerful" male regional minister Frank Amoakohene has made highly inappropriate and degrading comments on social media, suggesting a sexual act in public with a female opposition member Akosua Manu Kozie. This action is not only offensive and disrespectful but also goes against the principles of decency and professionalism expected from a public servant. We must act to ensure accountability and maintain the integrity of our political systems.

Public office comes with the responsibility of upholding moral and ethical standards. Such behaviour is a blatant misuse of power and influences public perception negatively. It undermines the trust of the citizens and hinders healthy democratic engagement. No public official should exploit their position for personal attacks or to propagate misogyny and disrespect towards women.

We urge the governing body and relevant authorities within  Ghana and all relevant international organizations to conduct a thorough investigation into this incident and take appropriate action against Frank Amoakohene. This sends a clear message that sexism and unprofessional conduct will not be tolerated and reinforces the values of respect, equality, and integrity in public office.

Furthermore, appropriate sensitivity training and strict guidelines should be implemented for all officials to prevent such incidents in the future. A culture of respect and professionalism must be cultivated within our political institutions. This is the second within 10 days this man has preyed this innocent victim.

Sign this petition and share with all your contacts for them to sign and share it onward to demand accountability and advocate for a respectful and safe political environment for all genders. Let us stand together to ensure that such abuse of power is addressed promptly and effectively.
