Hold RCMP Constable Neils Hermes Accountable for Misconduct
Hold RCMP Constable Neils Hermes Accountable for Misconduct
The Issue
On September 13, 2025, Constable Neils Hermes (Badge #50156) of the Richmond RCMP conducted a traffic stop that was reckless, intimidating, and disproportionate. He blocked a vehicle at a red light, nearly causing a collision, jumped onto the hood, and immediately ordered an impound for alleged “excessive noise” despite no reckless driving and no verified noise violation.
Throughout the stop, Constable Hermes:
- Denied repeated requests for a supervisor.
- Refused at first to provide his name and badge number.
- Physically damaged the vehicle by slamming on the hood, scratching the window, and leaning on the wrap.
- Intimidated the driver with threats of handcuffs and by surrounding him with multiple armed officers.
- Ordered a DUI test without cause, which came back negative.
This behaviour is unacceptable, unsafe, and an abuse of authority. It undermines public trust in policing and puts both civilians and officers at risk.
We, the undersigned, demand:
- A full independent investigation into Constable Hermes’ conduct.
- Disciplinary action if misconduct is confirmed, up to and including removal from traffic enforcement duties.
- Transparency from Richmond RCMP on the outcome of this investigation.
- A review of Constable Hermes’ past conduct, as multiple community members have reported similar treatment.
We support fair and reasonable traffic enforcement, but we cannot accept intimidation, unsafe stops, and abuse of authority. Public safety and accountability must come first.
Sign this petition to demand accountability for Constable Neils Hermes.
