Hold MGU Accountable: Protect Students from Academic Malpractices and Delays!

Hold MGU Accountable: Protect Students from Academic Malpractices and Delays!
The Issue
We, the undersigned students, alumni, parents, and concerned citizens of Kerala, demand immediate action from the Kerala Governor and relevant authorities to address the rampant academic malpractices and delays plaguing Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU), Kerala
The Issues:
- Unacceptable delays: Exams are consistently postponed, and results announced months later, disrupting academic schedules and career plans.
- Flawed evaluations: Students face discrepancies and inaccuracies in marking, with instances of ignored questions and unfair scores despite well-written answers.
- Outdated syllabus: The curriculum lags behind contemporary advancements, leaving students unprepared for the modern job market.
- Exorbitant fees: Ridiculously high charges for revaluation and scrutiny add financial pressure to students already struggling with academic issues.
- Mental health toll: The constant stress and uncertainty have led to student depression and even attempted suicide.
- Governance failure: The university administration appears insensitive and lacks transparency in addressing student concerns.
We demand:
- Independent investigation: A thorough probe into MGU's academic practices and governance to identify and rectify systemic flaws.
- Evaluation reform: Revise the marking system to ensure fairness, accuracy, and transparency.
- Updated curriculum: Modernize the syllabus to equip students with relevant skills and knowledge for the current job market.
- Timely exams and results: Implement stricter guidelines to avoid delays and guarantee timely examination and result announcement.
- Affordable grievance redressal: Establish accessible and affordable mechanisms for students to address academic concerns and seek fair redressal.
- Hold MGU accountable: Take decisive action against instances of negligence and malpractice, and ensure responsible university administration.
- Transparency in evaluation: Implement stricter accountability measures, including making students' answer sheets accessible under the Evidence Act 2023 provisions for public domain documents. This will allow for independent verification of marking and address concerns about discrepancies and bias. This addition reinforces the call for transparency and provides a concrete legal framework for ensuring access to answer sheets. Remember to adjust the wording based on the specific provisions of the Evidence Act 2023 in Kerala.
Sign this petition and show your support for students suffering under MGU's failures. Together, we can demand change and create a university system that upholds academic integrity, prioritizes student well-being, and equips its graduates for success in the modern world.
Share this petition with your friends, family, and community. Let's make MGU listen to the voices of its students and protect their future!
