The Issue

I see these kids every day. Initially, everything seemed normal, but then the yelling, name-calling, and vulgar language started towards the children from their mother. It was heartbreaking to witness as she also stopped feeding them, forcing me to step in and provide meals whenever they were around. Soon, videos emerged showing the extent of physical and mental abuse inflicted on these innocent children.

Out of the four children, two managed to go with their father. However, the other two children were placed in foster care, a place they hoped would be safe, only to experience beatings and, shockingly, be returned back to their abusive mother. Despite their father's relentless efforts to fight for their safety and wellbeing, the system continues to fail him and more importantly, these children.

Lowndes County in Alabama must be held accountable for their actions, or lack thereof, in this deeply troubling situation. This not only involves failing to protect the welfare of these children but also raising grave questions about the processes and decisions made in their returning custody to an abusive parent.

We demand that Lowndes County review and overhaul their approach to child welfare, ensure immediate safety reassessment for children under similar circumstances, and take concrete steps to prevent such oversights from occurring again. This includes detailed investigations into how these decisions were made and implementing transparent policies that prioritize the safety and well-being of the children in their care.

We cannot stand by and allow these grave injustices to continue. The lives and futures of these children depend on immediate and decisive action. Sign this petition to demand accountability and necessary reforms in Lowndes County's handling of child custody cases.
