Currently, in Iran, protesters are outraged. The Iranian regime is extremely oppressive and controlling when it comes to imposing restrictions on what women can wear. On the 22nd of September, a young woman by the name of Mahsa Amini was seen coming out of the subway and the Iranian morality police arrested her and sent her away to a detention center because they felt as if she was wearing her hijab improperly. Three days later, she died. The treatment of women in the detention centers is extreme and brutal. Youth groups around Iran are burning their hijabs as a protest to the dictator and his rules of how the women in Iran should dress. Iran has resorted to “maximum suppression” meaning that they won't hesitate to use means of violence to stop the protests.

The maximum suppression of the Iranian government has claimed at least 585 lives and has resulted in at least 14,000 arrests. As a result of the demonstrations, four individuals have been killed.
