My residence, 16660 Calle Jermaine, 90272, was more than just a building - it was an extension of who I am. To my shock and horror, my home was the only one in a quarter-mile radius to burn to the ground in the recent Palisades Fire. Fire Chief Don Rupright #8136 attended the scene at 11:38 pm and despite being aware of the danger, he departed without taking any requisite actions to control the fire. This is, as per my reckoning, utter negligence. Being a man of considerable authority and responsibility, this man's actions—or inaction, in this instance—set a disconcerting example to his department and those operating under his command. The traces of his directives are evident in the way they handle such critical situations. This petition is a call to all responsible bodies to hold Fire Chief Don Rupright accountable for his inaction that led to a personal tragedy of losing my home. We urge authorities to take a look into this matter so no other resident has to suffer a loss due to similar negligence.
