Dear fellow citizens,
I hope you're well. I'd like to invite you to join us at Politics Summit 2019: Globalism vs Nationalism in the Digital Age. (Hope you can make it!)
ACTION: Join us at Politics Summit 2019 https://www.eventbrite.com/e/politics-summit-2019-globalism-vs-nationalism-in-the-digital-age-tickets-60467443752.
Following our petition, much has happened in the world of politics, democracy, and technology. Mark Zuckerberg was recently questioned by Congress about his decision to allow politicians to lie in Facebook adverts. Twitter decided to ban political ads. And Apple skipped a US congressional hearing that focused on the relationship between the tech industry and China.
Meanwhile, elections have gripped countries worldwide, and protests have risen in a global fight to defend democracy.
In the digital age, global tech companies have built new forms of power, whilst politics and politicians are trying to keep up, some better than others.
With so much in flux, there is much to discuss, and there is a need for citizens to learn, organise, and represent their interests. These are the important issues we seek to explore at Politics Summit 2019.
This is the third edition of the summit, and are set to be joined by a stellar lineup of speakers, including:
* Professor Mary Kaldor CBE (Professor of Global Governance at the London School of Economics)
* Rory Stewart (Independent candidate for Mayor of London in the upcoming mayoral election) [video message]
* Lewis Iwu (CEO at Purpose Union, & former World Debating Champion, & Author of "Words that Win")
* Catrin Nye (Award-winning Investigative Journalist at the BBC)
* Aaron Bastani (Author of "Fully Automated Luxury Communism", & Co-Founder of Novara Media)
* Ella Whelan (Co-Convenor, Battle of Ideas, & Author of "What Women Want")

* Maya Goodfellow (Author of "Hostile Environment: How Immigrants Became Scapegoats")
* Professor Eric Kaufmann (Author of "White Shift: Immigration, Populism, and the Future of White Majorities", and professor of politics at Birkbeck College, University of London)
* Oz Katerji (writer, filmmaker, and journalist with a focus on the Middle East)
