Hold Chat Fiji Accountable for Cyberbullying and Implement Proper Measures
The issue
The devastating impact of online bullying on social media platform, Chat Fiji, has personally hit home with the tragic loss of a beloved friend, Ranadi Kei Viti. This morning, due to the relentless online bullying Ranadi encountered, he tragically took his own life. This unfortunate incident is a grave reminder of the urgent need to address the pervasive issue of cyberbullying. The administrator of Chat Fiji must be held responsible for allowing, and even perpetuating, such destructive behavior as individuals misuse the platform for malicious intent. The incidents often took the form of creating fake accounts with the sole intent of causing harm, rather than fostering mature and constructive dialogue. The tragic loss of Ranadi underscores the urgent necessity of online platforms, like Chat Fiji, to take decisive action against online bullying. According to DoSomething.org, about 37% of young people between the ages of 12 and 17 have been bullied online and 30% have had it happen more than once. Taking these statistics into account, it is our responsibility to ensure that social media platforms like Chat Fiji are held accountable for their harmful actions and are made to protect their users from such abusive experiences. We demand that Facebook closes down Chat Fiji. Let us stand firm together against online bullying and in support of safe online spaces. Sign this petition to demand accountability and protection from cyberbullying on Chat Fiji.
