Hold Centerpoint Energy Accountable for Inadequate Response to Power Outages

Hold Centerpoint Energy Accountable for Inadequate Response to Power Outages
The Issue
I am a resident of Missouri City, in the state of Texas. Like millions of other Houstonians, a situation that pains my heart and angers my soul has become a sad reality for my community and city - we have suffered a great loss due to not having power during a heat advisory. This has precipitated a health crisis in our community with deficiencies in essential resources like food and gas. Not only are home repairs going to be expensive for people within these affected areas, but the loss of food, internet, and clean water are amongst the basic necessities that people are suffering without while waiting for lights to be back on.
This predicament was brought upon us by the irresponsible and unsatisfactory response of Centerpoint Energy - our power provider. Our pleas for help were largely ignored, leaving us struggling in extreme weather conditions. This dereliction of duty has not just discouraged us but has thrown us into a devastating race for survival.
Centerpoint Energy must be held accountable for this disservice. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), Texas leads the nation in energy production. Therefore, it is deeply unsettling that residents of Missouri City, Houston, and surrounding cities here in Southeast Texas have had to go through this unnecessary hardship due to poor management and an inadequate response by an energy provider.
We are contemplating a class action lawsuit against Centerpoint Energy, using our legal rights and resources to hold those responsible accountable. It is only right that a company providing essential services should perform its role effectively and empathetically, more so during emergency situations, and not leave its customers in the lurch.
Join us in signing this petition to seek justice for the residents of Missouri City, (Fort Bend County), Houston/Harris County, and surrounding areas affected by Hurricane Beryl and to prevent such a situation from happening again in the future. Let's show Centerpoint Energy that they cannot escape accountability and must prioritize the well-being of the communities they serve. Sign this petition today.
