The Issue

I am a former student of an Allied Health sonography program affiliated with Sovah Health. I am sharing my experience to raise awareness about concerns regarding discrimination, breaches of confidentiality, and retaliation within my healthcare education program.

This petition is about fairness, accountability, and ensuring that concerns are addressed appropriately. After months of documented efforts to seek resolution through internal channels and formal complaints, this matter remains unresolved - raising concerns about whether students who speak up are adequately protected.

By signing, you are helping bring public visibility to these concerns and encouraging accrediting bodies, including the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, to conduct a timely, thorough, and impartial review. Your support can help ensure that these issues are taken seriously and that students can raise legitimate concerns in good faith without fear of retaliation.

This petition reflects my personal experience and aims to protect the integrity of healthcare education for current and future students.

What Happened
Between November 2024 and August 2025, I reported multiple concerns through the program’s internal channels, including:

Alleged unauthorized sharing of my private medical information
Repeated derogatory comments related to religion, national origin, and identity
A hostile learning environment, including classroom discussions that promoted discriminatory viewpoints
Concerns about unequal treatment and academic integrity issues
Subsequent retaliatory conduct after reporting these concerns
These concerns were reported to faculty, program leadership, and Human Resources. In multiple instances, leadership acknowledged the seriousness of the concerns and indicated that action would be taken.

However:

  • Follow-up responses were delayed or absent
  • No clear resolution was communicated over several months
  • My clinical placements were repeatedly changed without clear justification
  • Communication from program leadership became limited or nonresponsive
  • All of these events are documented through emails, written correspondence, and recordings (in accordance with applicable laws).

Escalation and Ongoing Impact
After exhausting internal processes, I escalated the matter to:

  • Program leadership and Human Resources
  • External accrediting bodies, including Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs
  • The Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
    As of today:

I have not received a clear resolution or outcome.
Requests for records and formal responses were delayed or unanswered.
I continue to experience significant professional harm, including difficulty securing opportunities in my field.
Multiple professionals have indicated concerns about possible reputational harm and barriers following my complaint, which raises serious concerns about retaliation extending beyond graduation.

Why This Matters
Healthcare students must be able to report concerns such as:

  • Discrimination
  • Breaches of confidentiality
  • Unethical or unsafe practices
  • Without fear that doing so will:
  1. Harm their education
  2. Damage their career
  3. Lead to isolation or retaliation

If these protections fail, it affects not only students - but also patient care, professional standards, and public trust in healthcare education.

We Respectfully Call For:

  • A transparent and timely investigation by accrediting bodies into the program’s handling of reported concerns
  • Accountability where policies or standards were not followed
  • Clear anti-retaliation protections for students, including after graduation
  • Improved oversight of Allied Health programs to ensure compliance with confidentiality, nondiscrimination, and ethical standards
  • Guidance and support pathways for students who are negatively impacted after reporting concerns

No student should have to choose between: Speaking up about wrongdoing Or protecting their future career.

By signing, you are supporting safe learning environments, ethical accountability, and equal opportunity in healthcare education.
